Notice of proposed Hazard Reduction works 2nd August 2021
The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) wish to advise that hazard reduction works are proposed at
the location listed below. The works will consist of prescribed burning of vegetation to reduce the bush
& grass fire fuel to assist in reducing the intensity and adverse impact of bush/grass fires.
The prescribed burning will be undertaken at;
Black Stump Way, Mullaley – 3rd & 4th of August 2021
As prescribed burning will generate smoke, heat and possibly hot embers it is important you consider
› Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes;
› Keep outdoor furniture under cover to prevent ember burns;
› Retract any pool covers to prevent ember damage;
› Remove washing from clotheslines;
› Ensure pets have a protected area;
› If you are driving a vehicle, keep windows up and turn headlights on; and
› If you have asthma or a lung condition reduce outdoor activities. If smoke levels are high and if
shortness of breath including coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical
advice. You may also wish to consider spending time in an alternative location when the burn is

If weather condition become unfavourable on the scheduled burn day, the hazard reduction will be
postponed until conditions become more suitable
MEDIA BRIEF Mullaley hazard reduction activities – 2nd August 2021
The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) will be conducting Hazard Reduction burning within the vicinity of the Mullaley township on the 3rd August 2021.
Media Brief Mullaley – Requirements:
The Media is encouraged and welcome to attend.
Hazard Reduction burn activities will commence from approximately 10:30am with a media briefing being conducted at 11:30am outside the Mullaley Roadhouse – intersection of Black Stump way and Oxley Highway
Media Crews must attend the media specific briefing at 11:30am to allow the NSW RFS Incident Controller be aware of their presence on the Fire ground.
› All media crews are to have completed the Fire Awareness training package and have the appropriate personal protective equipment if they wish to enter the Fire Ground.
