Club Champion - Rod Ireland

2021 presentation night for Warialda Golf Club – Warialda Men’s Golf Report – 7 November 2021

The 2021 presentation night, held on Saturday 6 November, was very successful. Charlie and his staff served us a great meal, and the two Daves (Coulton and Smith) had the proceedings rolling along well. Congratulations again to all of the winners especially our 2021 Club Champion, Rod Ireland. The Warialda Sports Council Award was presented to the winners for both 2020 and 2021. The recipients were John Cush and Harold Rose – this prestigious award shows our appreciation for all the work they do around the club.

Sunday’s event, sponsored by Warialda Men’s Golf, was an 18-hole Individual Stableford. Tiger Cleal was counted out of first place by Tom Kilner, with both players finishing on 37 points. The ball run-down went to Rod Ireland (34 points) and Dave Coulton (33 points).

Nearest the pins were won by Rod Ireland on the third, Tom Kilner on the all-in fifth and Steve Power on the ninth.  The daily winner made John McDonald’s day when he drew his card out and presented him with the coveted Rabobank mystery ball.

The final Matchplay event for the year was the playoff between the A-grade and B-grade individual winners for the Gobbert Shield. The winner was Wade Turner, with a score of 4 and 3, over Craig Lockhart. Congratulations to Wade on being this year’s overall Matchplay Champion.

This weekend’s event is the David Rose Memorial Inter-Town Challenge to be played at Warialda with an 11am start. On Sunday afternoon we will know the overall winner for 2021 with Bingara carrying a slender lead into the day’s game.

For the next month or so I am going to give you some good excuses to use on your families for getting out on the golf course! For this week: ‘I have spent a lot of time practicing; I’d like to see if it’s working.’
